TourEdit V0.6

Under construction
This is only a very short documentation. Later on, if someone is really interested in it, i will write a better docu. Note : if your locale is set correctly the program will appear in english language (i am currently simply too lazy to make new screenshots).

What is TourEdit?

There is an extension for the Siemens mobile phone M65 called Bike-O-Meter. With it you can use the mobile as comfortable tachometer for the bike. With TourEdit you can create tours for Bike-O-Meter. But be careful, Bike-O-Meter is not! a navigationsystem.
Screenshot

System

Linux or Windows withJava 1.4.2.

Installation

Java must be installed. Copy tour.jar somewhere to your harddrive and execute it with "java -jar tour.jar". If you have larger maps use additionally the options -Xms 256m -Xmx 512m. For creating icons or menu entries on your desktop see the documentation to your operating system or ask google.

Usage

First you need a map. You can scan it from a "paper-map" and make sure that the scale of the map is also on the picture. Tip: reduce to z.B. 20 colors and save as gif is mostly better than using a jpg with full color depth.

With menu "Load Map" load the map. The set the scale via F3 or the 4. Icon. Set start and endpoint of the scale in the map (see screenshot). Now enter the distance in meter.

Waypoint information dialog Now you can start to mark the route. Waypoints can be set with the left mouse button. With F4 you can enter a name and a height for a waypoint. Only waypoints which have a name will be downloaded to the mobile later.

At least you have to give a name to to tour via (F5).

With menu "Save tour" you can save the tour..

Export

The menu Export creates in the current working directory a subdirectory with two files. To import this to Bike-O-Meter you have to copy the entire directory to the directory Data/Bike-o-Meter/tours of the mobile. Under Windows use the provided software for copying. Under Linux use for example siefs. If all is OK, you should be able to import the tour into the Bike-O-Meter software via Touren->Tour importieren (i don't know how this menu point is named in english versions).

Print Tour

Press the button with the printer symbol. This opens the printer dialog.

You can change the font size for the labels and the stroke size for lines between waypoints. With the vertical and horizontal sliders you can change the visible part of the map.

Printer dialog

Please attend:

  • The file format from TourEdit 0.6 is not compatibel to TourEdit 0.5.
  • Don't use special characters.
  • The Software ignores currently the paper format in the printer settings dialog.alog.
  • Start and endpoint of the tour must have a name. The software doesn't check this at the moment..
